✍️ The review form

What shoppers see when they write a review, step by step: the rating, photos and videos, the review, your questions, their name and email, rewards and the thank-you screen, on your store and from review emails.

The review form is where every review starts. It walks shoppers through one short step at a time, in your brand colors and their language, so writing a review takes about a minute.

The steps

A bar at the top shows how far along they are, with a back arrow to change an answer. Steps you turn off in Settings ▸ Review form are skipped.

1. Rate the product

The rating step with five stars and a reward note

The product's photo and your heading, then the stars. A tap on a star moves straight to the next step. If you offer a reward, a note says what they can earn.

2. Add photos or a video

The photos and videos step

Shoppers take a photo or video right away on phones, or choose files or drag them in. Photos can be up to 100 MB and videos up to 500 MB, up to your Max files per review. They can Skip this step, unless you require a photo on 5 star reviews.

3. Write the review

The writing step with a title and review filled in

An optional title, then the review itself. Below the box, a counter shows how many more characters your minimum needs, then Looks good.

4. Answer your questions

The questions step with scales and choices answered

Your questions from Reviews ▸ Attributes, each in its own style: a bar to tap for scales, and chips for choices. Required questions carry a star, the rest read Optional.

5. Add their name and email

The name and email step with the reward note

The name shows on the review, formatted as Settings ▸ General says. The email stays private. If they've earned a reward, a note says how they'll get it.

6. Thank you

The thank-you screen asking the shopper to confirm by email

Your thank-you heading and text. What it adds depends on your settings:

  • Confirmation email on (Settings ▸ Collect & publish ▸ On-site reviews): Check your email. The review posts once they confirm from the link, and their reward code comes then.

  • Confirmation email off, the default: the reward they earned, with the code on its way to their inbox.

After that, your publishing rules decide when the review goes live.

From a review request email

The button in your review request emails opens the same steps on a review page in your brand colors, with every product from the shopper's order to review. Their name comes filled in from the order.

Rewards

When Settings ▸ Discounts rewards reviews, the form says so at three moments: Earn up to 20% off under the stars, the amount for a photo or a video on the photos step, and what they've earned on the last step. The amounts follow your discount tiers.

Leaving early

Closing the form before submitting asks Leave without posting?, with Keep writing and Leave, so nobody loses a half-written review by accident.

On phones

The form fills the screen, with the button always in reach at the bottom.

Change the form

Settings ▸ Review form with its parts numbered

➀ Rating and review. Stars, thumbs or a 0 to 10 score, and the shortest review you accept.

➁ Photos and videos. Photo and video uploads, a required photo on 5 star reviews, the most files per review and the longest video.

➂ Shopper details. Name and email (always on), your attribute questions, and the reviewer's location from their order.

➃ Form text. The heading, prompts, button and thank-you text. Use {{product_name}}, {{store_name}} and {{first_name}} anywhere.

➄ Live preview. Every step, in your colors, as you change it.

The settings apply to the form on your store and the one review emails open.

💡 Tip: Keep the minimum review length low, around 25 characters. The steps already guide shoppers to say something useful, and a high minimum loses more reviews than it improves.
