📝 Ask review questions (attributes)

Choose the questions your review form asks, add them in a click from the library, keep them tidy, and read the answers in Reviews and Analytics.

Attributes are the short questions your review form asks beside the stars, like how well a product works or what the reviewer's skin type is. Good questions make every review more useful, power the filters on your product pages, and show you what customers think in numbers.

Adding the value for money question from the attribute library

What to ask

Three or four questions make the richest reviews without slowing the form down: one about the product's main promise, a Yes or no on whether they'd recommend it, and one or two about the customer, which become filters for shoppers. The attribute library has ready-made sets.

Set

Questions

Generic

How would you rate the quality? How would you rate the value for money? Would you recommend this product?

Apparel

How does it fit? How would you rate the quality? How comfortable is it? How would you describe the style? Would you recommend this product?

Beauty

What is your skin type? How was the shade match? How long does it last? How would you rate the scent? Would you recommend this product?

Home

How would you rate the quality? How easy is it to use? How would you rate the value for money? How would you rate the design? Would you recommend this product?

The library's questions come in your admin language, the one your shoppers read them in.

Add questions

  1. Open Reviews ▸ Attributes and scroll to Attribute library.

  2. Pick a set, then click Add on a question, or Customize to open it in the editor first. The button at the top adds the whole set.

  3. For a question of your own, click Add attribute at the top of the list.

A question joins your review form as soon as it's added. Show attributes on your widgets walks through the editor and the six question styles.

Keep them tidy

To

Do this

Stop asking a question

Switch off Ask in the review form. Answers already given stay on their reviews.

Make it required

Edit, then tick Customers must answer.

Feature its average

Edit, then tick Feature its average. Only a Rating scale or Spectrum can be featured, one at a time.

Fix the wording

Edit. Small fixes are fine. Answers given to very different wording stop counting in its averages.

Remove it

The delete button, with the bin icon. Answers stay on their reviews but no longer count in averages and summaries.

Switching a question off or deleting it waits behind the save bar until you click Save. A question's style, and whether it's about the product or the customer, can't change once it's added, so add a new one instead.

Answers on each review

A review in Reviews with its answers numbered

➀ About the customer. Their answers under their name, like skin type or age group.

➁ About the product. Whether they'd recommend it, and where they landed on each scale.

The same answers show on the review in its popup, and on your widgets as shoppers see them.

Answers in Analytics

The Attribute answers card in Analytics

Attribute answers in Analytics shows how customers answered in the period you pick: each question with the share of every answer. A Rating scale shows its five steps, 5 being the best. The card lists your top questions, and Manage attributes opens Reviews ▸ Attributes for the rest.

On Advanced and up, the QI attributes scan at the top of Reviews ▸ Attributes sums up every answer on your published reviews in a few lines.

💡 Tip: Ask about the customer as well as the product. "What's your skin type?" turns into the filter shoppers reach for first, because it finds reviews from people like them.
